Business Plan Update

Post Date:08/31/2010 7:00 AM
This briefing includes data for the period ending July 31, 2010.

Reviewing the Carson City Scorecard, a red indicator has been noted under "A Healthy Community" perspective.  One of the strategic objectives listed to support this quality of life perspective is "Public health services are available."  One of the services provided by Carson City is ambulance services.  The key indicators for this service is response times and the number of calls or demand for this service.  Response times both for July, 2010 and year-to-date have risen above the target of 6 minutes.  There appears to be a spike in the response times for July, which has pushed the average year-to-date response times over the target of 6 minutes.  Fire Chief Stacey Giomi is investigating this situation and will make a report during the September 2, 2010 Board meeting.

This month, staff will not present updated strategy maps related to specific perspectives, however, at your next Business Review, staff will bring a new strategy map and associated measures related to "A Physically Connected Community," which focuses on transportation.

At last months business review, it was noted that data showed an increase in power usage in City facilities.  A further examination of the data disclosed and error which has been corrected.  Power usage has remained essentially the same as the previous year.  This business review includes revised charts for power usage (KWH) in City facilities.

Taxable sales graphs are included in this report and provide an indication whether the various categories of taxable sales are meeting our target of the same period one year ago.

Financial data is not included within this review.  Staff is developing monthly budgets for FY 2011 for all funds, and in particular, those that are used for projects.  These budgets will establish monthly and year-to-date targets for our Finance Scorecard.

The current status of transportation projects are also included in this report.
