Paul Laxalt went from the D.A.'s office in 1954 to become Lieutenant Governor of Nevada in 1962, Governor in 1966 and United States Senator in 1974 and 1980. In state office, he became friends with then-California governor Ronald Reagan and remained a close advisor during President Reagan's terms.
