The team meets and works with other law enforcements agencies assisting them with operations within Carson City and in the surrounding jurisdictions.
Research has indicated that a small proportion of criminals commit a disproportionate amount of the crime in the United States. The Special Enforcement Team puts emphasis on identifying repeat offenders, career criminals, street level drug users and dealers, and assisting the gang unit with gang enforcement. Then the team focuses on proactive tactics to include decoys, surveillance, buy/bust schemes, the use of informants, hotel/motel criminal interdiction, casino checks, and criminal interdiction on the city streets with traffic stops, pedestrian stops, and bicycle stops. The team also works with apartment managers and local businesses with any criminal type activity that they are experiencing.
