|The County Clerk's Election Department must receive your completed Voter Registration Application postmarked no later than the fifth Saturday before the election in order for you to vote in that election. OR, you may appear in person at the County Clerk's office or register online on or before the third Tuesday before the election.
Keep Your Voting Information Current: Failure to respond to a mailing from the County Clerk's Election Department may place your voting status as inactive. If your status is inactive, you will not receive a sample ballot.
Reasons to Complete a New Voter Registration Application: Name Change, Party Change, Change of Mailing or Residence address (Change of Address Form).
Online Registration: Click Here to register to vote online with the Nevada Secretary of State. You must reside in the State of Nevada, have a Nevada Drivers License or ID card and a Social Security Number.

Mail-In Applications: Mail-in applications are available at the following locations:
- Carson City Library
- City Hall- Treasurer
- Senior Center
- Carson City Health and Human Services
Requirements on Mail-In Registration: When you register to vote by mail you are required to include the following information with your application:
- A copy of a current and valid photo Identification, or
- A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck or document issued by a governmental entity, including, without limitation, a check, which indicates the name and address of the person.
Please note, if you mail-in an application, your registration is not confirmed until the County Clerk receives the application and determines that the application is complete. Once your registration is complete,a Voter Registration Card will be mailed to the physical address on the application.
Field Registrar Registration: A Deputy Clerk, under the authority of the County Clerk, may register Carson City residents, proper identification and proof of residence is required. To become a Field Registrar, please contact the County Clerk's office to register for training and obtain further information.
Voter Registration Card: New registered voters and voters who have made changes to their voter registrations, will receive a "Voter Registration Card" after the application or change of address card has been processed. It is not mandatory to bring your Voter Registration Card to vote. Voter Registration Cards are mailed to the physical residence address indicated on the registration application or change of address card. They are non-forwardable and will be returned if this office has incorrect physical residence information. If you do not receive a Voter Registration Card within 10 days of your application or address change, please contact the County Clerk's office as your registration may not be complete.
Giving false information on a Voter Application is a Felony and
includes a civil penalty of up to $20,000.
NOTE TO VOTERS: If your address in Carson City has the zip code 89704, 89705, or 89706, you may be a resident of Washoe County, Douglas County or Lyon County. Please verify your correct county prior to registering to vote in Carson City.
