The Commission meets throughout the year at the Carson City Community Center’s Sierra Room, 850 East Williams St. (corner of N. Roop St.), Carson City, NV 89701. Meetings are typically held January, March, May, July, September, November on the 2nd Mondays of the month at 5:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and televised live. 2019 MAYOR’S ARTS AWARDS
General Information
Mission:
The 2019 Mayor’s Arts Awards is an inaugural event presented by the City Carson City Department of Arts & Culture and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce designed to recognize individuals and organizations committed to elevating arts excellence within the state capital.  The event intends to cultivate Nevadans’ appreciation and understanding of the arts, to stimulate regional development of arts collaboration and communication, and to grow future patrons of the arts in our community.  Award recipients will be honored at the 2019 Mayor’s Arts Awards + Luncheon held Friday, November 15. 

Awards Eligibility
Nominees must be residents of Carson City, work in Carson City, or demonstrate their contribution to the arts in Carson City.  Nominees must be living individuals or active organizations.  Self-nominations are accepted.  Multiple nominations may be submitted in the same or different award categories. The Carson City Department of Arts & Culture reserves the right to move nominations to appropriate categories if needed.  Winners are announced publically in advance of the Friday, November 15 awards ceremony.  All awardees must be present to receive their awards.

Award Categories
Artist Melissa Melero-Moose has been invited to create the 2019 Mayor’s Arts Awards.
Each award recipient will receive a special limited edition work signed by the artist.

Arts Innovator Award
This award honors an individual who is implementing new and innovative ideas into the arts and cultural sector that benefit the community.

Service to the Arts Award 
This award seeks to inspire a culture of giving by recognizing an outstanding individual who has graciously helped fund, support, or sustain arts and cultural in the community.  

Community Impact Award
This award honors an organization that has a tangible, measurable effect on the community exemplifying the impact and vitality of Carson City's creative economy.  Organization may be profit or non-profit.

Art of Giving Award
This award seeks to inspire a culture of giving by recognizing an outstanding organization that has graciously helped fund, support, or sustain arts and cultural programs and organizations in our community.  Organization may be profit or non-profit.

Nomination + Selection
The Carson City Department of Arts & Culture issues the call for nominations, collects all nomination forms, and reviews all forms for eligibility.
An independent committee reviews all nominations and recommends awardees to the Mayor’s Office.

Rules
Nominations must be received by 5:00pm PST on Monday, October 14, 2019 via the www.carson.org/ac website.
Late applications will not be reviewed or accepted.
All applications must be submitted to the carson.org/ac website.
No handwritten or in-person applications or additional materials will be accepted.
Current members of the Carson City Department of Arts & Culture or the Carson City Cultural Commission are ineligible for the Mayor’s Arts Awards.
