Empire Ranch Trail Re-Opened

Post Date:11/15/2019 1:56 PM

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department is pleased to announce the Empire Ranch Trail between Riverview Park and Morgan Mill has been reopened.

The 1.6-mile section of the non-motorized trail was closed as a result of the 2017 flood, which left the trail severely damaged.  Users should be aware that in some areas the path is soft or has uneven surfaces, and some flood debris adjacent to the trail remains.  Users are also asked to respect wildlife habitat along the Carson River by keeping dogs on a leash or under voice control and also to stay clear of the private property to the west of the trail.

The department is also looking for an organization or group willing to “adopt” the Empire Ranch Trail under their new Adopt-a-Trail program.

For additional information about the Empire Ranch Trail or the Adopt-a-Trail program, please contact Gregg Berggren, Trails Coordinator, 775-887-2262, ext.7219, or gberggren@carson.org.
