Welcome to Carson City Parks, Recreation, and Open Space

The mission of Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is
to provide exceptional parks, open space, and diverse recreational opportunities to
enhance the quality of life in Carson City, while preserving our natural resources for
future generations.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is pleased to announce the re-opening of some of its recreation facilities and services, compliant with the Governor’s Directives. 

Multipurpose Athletic Center (MAC) – 1860 Russell Way 
Opens June 5 - reservations required 
Hours: 8am-7pm daily

Reservations can be made at www.carson.org/ccpr under “Reservation Request” and by clicking on “Recreation Quick Reserve.” Reservations can also be made by phone at (775) 887-2339 or in person during operating hours. To make a reservation through a MAC membership or Punch Pass, please call or visit in person. To follow state guidelines and reduce gatherings, only 3 people will be allowed on a ½ court basketball court, 4 people on a pickleball court, and up to 10 people on the walking track at one time. Basketball games or pickleball rotations will not be permitted. A basketball court rental is $9 and pickleball court rental is $12 ($3 per person allowed on the reservation). Participants should bring all their own equipment, as basketballs, pickleballs and paddles will not be loaned out at this time. Restrooms will be available; however, changing areas will be closed. Additional social distancing measures will be in place. 

Carson City Aquatic Facility (841 N. Roop St. in Mills Park)
Opens June 8 – reservations required
Hours:  Mondays-Fridays: 5:45am-2pm and 4pm-7pm
  Saturdays:  9:45am-2pm
  Sundays:  Closed 

Beginning Monday, June 8, the 50-meter pool and Therapy Pool will be open and available to the public. Reservations can be made at www.carson.org/ccpr under “Reservations Request” and by clicking on “Recreation Quick Reserve.” Reservations can also be made by calling (775) 887-2242 or in person during regular operating hours. Lanes can be reserved for lap swim only, one person per lane or up to three people per lane if they come from the same household. A maximum of 8 people will be allowed in the Therapy Pool at one time.  Restrooms and showers will be available but access to lockers/changing areas will be closed. Please come and leave in your swim attire to reduce the number of people gathering and changing at the facility. Participants should bring all their own equipment, as fins, kickboards and other aqua fitness equipment will not be loaned out at this time. Water exercise classes will be offered in a later phase. Additional social distancing measures will be in place. 

Carson City Community Center
Opens June 8
Hours: Mondays-Fridays: 10am-6:30pm

Instructor led classes may resume as soon as individual instructors are ready and have the required social distancing measures in place. 

Camp Carson
Camp Carson Summer Youth Program will begin Monday, June 29th.  Recreation staff will contact those who signed up on the waiting list, based on order of sign-up, to register for camp beginning next week. 

Outdoor Recreation Facilities
Neighborhood Parks, trails, outdoor sport courts, skateparks, shooting facilities, archery range, golf course, and disc golf are all open with restrictions. Picnics and park gatherings with groups less than 50 people are allowed. Playgrounds and sports fields will remain closed at this time.

 Outdoor tennis and pickleball courts-OPEN

Participants are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer and wipes to keep equipment clean. 

 Eagle Valley Golf Course – OPEN

 Carson Ridge Disc Golf Park-OPEN

Park is open daily sunrise to sunset.  Participants are encouraged to practice social distancing, bring hand sanitizer and wipes to keep discs and equipment clean. Groups must be less than 10 people. If the parking lot is full upon arrival, please choose another time to participate.  There may be periodic course closures for on-going maintenance activities.  Please check carson.org/parksandrec and social media for scheduling updates.

 Carson City Archery Range- OPEN

 Capitol City Gun Club – OPEN

Operated by Capitol City Gun Club.  For restrictions, hours and fees visit capitolcitygunclub.org   or call 775.882.9904.

Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range – OPEN for drop-in use to the public


  • Long Range-10 covered and 10 prone stations open (every other station available)
  • Short Range-10 stations open
  • Shooting Bays limited to groups less than 10 people.
  • Participants are encouraged to practice social distancing, bring hand sanitizer and wipes to keep shooting tables/stations and equipment clean before and after shooting. 
  • If all shooting stations are occupied upon arrival, participants are asked to please wait safely in their vehicle until a station becomes available.
  • Reservations are available to groups less than 10 people with insurance and a Range Safety Officer. To make a reservation email:  ccrange@carson.org or submit a reservation request online at carson.org/range.  
Volunteer NRA Range Safety Officers are needed to extend the hours, while restrictions are still in place to ensure compliance.  To volunteer, please contact Mike Evans, Range Coordinator at 775.887.2262 or email mgevans@carson.org

    Amidst COVID-19, this guide is meant to be used as a resource to use a variety of trails so no one trail becomes too crowded. Enjoy the abundance of trails in the region, but please adhere to social distancing guidelines when visiting trails.

City Hall Closure

In response to Governor Sisolak’s mandate regarding COVID-19, City Hall will be closed to the public beginning March 24, 2020. However, we will continue to serve our taxpayers by telephone, fax and email, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
