Release From Custody
After a crime has been committed, and they have been arrested they will be detained at the Carson City Jail. Upon release from jail, they are ordered to report to the Department of Alternative Sentencing where we review the standard release conditions with them.
Often, while they are in custody, they are issued a Nevada Pre-Trial Risk Assessment (NPRA) to determine if they are a risk to abscond or to reoffend once released. The NPRA will determine the level of risk and additional conditions will be imposed in addition to the standard conditions.
From the time they are released from custody to their sentencing hearing, they will be placed on Bail Conditions or Pre-Trial Supervision. Pre-Trial Case Managers will then monitor the standard and special conditions, ensure compliance, and provide reports- when necessary- for their next court hearing.
