Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Saturday September 13th | 9:00am-11:00am | Lone Mountain Cemetery

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department will be hosting the 4th annual Move with the Mayor event on Saturday September 13th at Lone Mountain Cemetery! From 9:00am-11:00am join staff, other volunteer groups and individuals, and Mayor Bagwell to help with weed removal around headstones. This event will require volunteers to stoop, kneel, rake and/or lift piles of weeds and debris, and utilize basic hand tools such as rakes and hula hoe weeders.

Coffee, snacks, additional water, and all necessary tools will be provided - but for those who have their own gardening tools (hula hoes, etc) please bring with so that we have enough to provide to those without tools.

Lone Mountain Cemetery is located at 1044 Beverly Drive, Carson City NV, 89706. We encourage families and groups to carpool together, if possible. Volunteers can park along Beverly Drive between Roop Street and Marian Drive, or at the Carson City Senior Center across the street from the cemetery

Adopt-A-Trail Program

The Adopt-A-Trail program is an environmental stewardship initiative and a chance for businesses, clubs, families, schools, and other citizen groups to give back to Carson City community by helping with care and maintenance of a trail. It aims to build civic pride and involve community members in positive outdoor recreation. Groups who adopt a trail commit to a minimum of 2 volunteer events on their trail per year, with activities based on their trail's specific needs. As a thank you to those who adopt our trails, we put a sign at the trailhead indicating that the trail has been adopted by your group!
