in the Landfill.

Landfill Hours:
Monday thru Saturday
7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Closed Sundays

Closed Thanksgiving Day
Closed Christmas Day
Closed New Year's Day

 Landfill Rates

To receive in-county rates, proof of residency is required. May pay with cash, credit, debit or on account.          

Landfill Disposal Limits

 Recycling

The following items can be dropped off for free recycling:

  • Aluminum cans
  • Tin cans
  • Newspaper
  • Plastic bottles
  • Glass bottles
  • Cardboard
  • Motor oil
  • Antifreeze
  • Car batteries

*Recycle items cannot be placed in plastic bags as they are not recyclable with other plastics. 

Curbside recycling is available through Waste Management.  They can be reached at (775) 343-7596.

 

Household Hazardous Waste

IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE HUMAN INTERACTION AND PROTECT OUR CITIZENS AND EMPLOYEES FROM THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK, WE ARE CURRENTLY ONLY TAKING RESERVATIONS FOR HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE APPOINTMENTS.  ONCE THE THREAT OF CONTAMINATION HAS CEASED, WE WILL RESUME NORMAL OPERATIONS AND CONTACT YOU TO SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING!

The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility provides Carson City residents with free hazardous waste disposal services every Thursday afternoon between 1:30 and 4:00 p.m. by appointment only for the following materials:

  • Oil-based paint
  • Varnish
  • Stain
  • Gasoline
  • Pesticides
  • Herbicides

How do I get to the Household Hazardous Waste site at the Landfill? MAP

The following items are not accepted:

  • Water based latex paints 
  • Biohazard or radioactive wastes
  • Propane cylinders of any kind
