Why is the 2020 Census so important for Carson City?

Because the results of the 2020 Census will help determine the distribution of federal funding into communities every year for the next decade.

The results will show where communities need new schools, new clinics, new roads, and more services for families, older adults, and children.

Census results help determine how funding is allocated for programs such as Head Start, Pell Grants, school lunches, adult education, and grants for preschool special education.

An accurate count will determine funding for programs to prevent child abuse, to prepare for wildfires, to provide housing assistance for older adults, to support the prevention and treatment of substance abuse.
